BUYING A LAPTOP IN THE PHILIPPINES SPOT CASH AND CARRY details our experience purchasing a new laptop in the Philippines. Granted that electronics purchased in the Philippines is mostly higher than in then USA. You could pay anywhere fro 18% to 45% more. This is due to tariff and customs taxes from the Philippines. Many in the Philippines got to Hong Kong or Kuala Lumpur to make electronic purchases just to save money. My take on this is you wind up spending money on shipping charges and taxes so it sort of washes out. I like to buy locally so if there is anything wrong , I can take it back physically without having to pay for shipping charges etc.. This channel is dedicated to sharing my experiences as I now live in the Philippines. I am a Black American from Atlanta, GA USA. I hop...
Metro Manila is home to 14 million people, with four out of every 10 residents living in slums. The Philippine government is trying to relocate these "informal settlers" by 2016 and it is building affordable houses, and having schemes to help them buy their own homes. Channel NewsAsia's Christine Ong has the report.
